Major home issues

Since no one had lived in the house for over a year it created some issues with plumbing and the overall condition, as you can see in the wood floor the layer of white dust left my footprints from my shoes.

The attic had become home for hornets and mud dauber’s for many years looking at the nests, I installed new vent screens which helped however still to this day I am getting hornets in the house due to the wood siding that is split, I am going to replace the damaged siding when the weather warms.

After I repaired the broken pipe in the main house crawl and turned the water back on the water was running down at the front door due to the upstairs bath also had broken pipes in the wall. I installed cut-off valves for the upstairs so I could have one working bathroom downstairs. (Note I was adding cut off valves all over the place since there were so many leaks).

Within two weeks all my drainage was backing up, shower, sinks, toilet. I feared the septic tank needed to be pumped out, I could not locate the clean out anywhere, I had to call in the plumber to look, as he noted the drains were installed in the 80’s without clean outs so as seen in the photo I had a plumber install a clean out near the back door, once he ran the snake through it drained well. Pumping out the septic tank was not needed.

The exhaust vent over the oven was 20 years overdue for replacement, I found a good deal at Lowes for a over the stove microwave and installed it to hold me over until I can redo the kitchen.

I wish I had found the HVAC vent disconnected in the crawl early however that was not the case, I had been heating and cooling the crawl space below the den for a couple months before I felt the draft coming up from the floor vent, once I removed the grate and put my hand in all I felt was open air (see pic) $300+ gas bills for heating.

Guest house 240 volt outlet for a/c/heat unit was just waiting to start a fire, I caught the problem and replaced it.
