Disclosure on this old house repairs.
The purpose of this website is to share my progress with friends and family, not to have you tackle major repairs. Having experience working on houses for a very long time I decided to step up to my biggest challenge yet.
My day job has never been in remodeling or construction, I have been working in the IT computer field for the last 18 years, before that I was an auto mechanic for 27 years.
You should always have safety and health concerns when performing any home improvements along with local building codes.
Nothing in these repairs are meant to guide you to do it yourself, you should always check you local codes and use licensed professionals, also you will need to use safety precautions when performing any repairs.
If you encounter lead paint you will need to have trained professionals to work and or remove it. Fortunately I have tested for lead paint and found no signs of lead paint, after researching the history of owners it looks like in the 1980’s the walls and ceiling were gutted and new drywall was installed, of course in that era lead paint was already banned.
Also all new wiring was added in the 80’s with grounds! I know people without a grounded system.
