Garage Lighting needed

Garage Lighting needed

It’s been cold and I needed something to do indoors and dry so I decided to work in the garage. It’s hard to believe that a 24×24 2 car garage at a cost of 25k back in 2004 only had 1 light on the back wall. to make matters worse the 2 windows are on the sides not facing the sun.

My other posts shows a back door installed with glass facing the sun, in any case I decided to install 6 recessed lighting can and LED bulbs using a combined 42 watts to operate all 6. I also added LED lights strips on the back wall and added another switch so both sets could be operated independently. Though drilling and running electrical wiring was a little time consuming it was completed in less than 2 days. The garage lighting is much improved now.

My bargain find of the new year was a 36″ door with blind built into the glass, these sell for $369 pre hung at Lowes. I already had the same size door at the rear of the garage, however it had no window and with no windows at the rear of the garage it made it very dark inside, very pleased with my bargain $50 door.

This door was installed backwards and it opened “out” into the wind, I recently removed the door completely and reversed it to swing inwards, much better now.
