Fire Pit for $80 budget
Well my temporary fire pit needed to be removed and while the weather was not too warm we proceeded to make a “real” pit that would stay functional and look good, the retaining wall blocks used ran $1.98 each.
We used 12 on the first row then 11 blocks because 1 was cut in half to allow air to get in to the fire. the 3rd row had 12 blocks. I would up with around a 36″ opening. a cold chisel and hammer had no problem removing the “tag” the blocks had. If you take your time and chisel a line all the way around the block it will cut pretty well in half.
Also the bottom was tapered to the middle which was about a foot deeper than the rest, filled with river rock to allow water to drain.
