Moving in Lots to do

Moving in Lots to do

Good thing I am retired because it needs lots of work.

Not sure what I am getting myself into, the house has not been lived in for the past year, water pipes are cracked in the walls and in the crawl spaces, the location is great for me as I am over the traffic and taxes in VA.

The 2 neighbors I have met are very nice, located on a dead end street and in a small town traffic is very low.

In total it’s 4 BR 2 1/2 bath and roughly 2,800 SQ Feet including the guest house, it has 3 fireplaces plus an oversize 2 car garage built around 2014 but looks old, the den is also an addition that is not that old, the den is 410 sq feet, plus a smokehouse turned into a shed

The main farmhouse and the guest house which was attached to farmhouse as a kitchen was separated and moved to the back.

Imagine life with no power tools or electric or plumbing, everything hand built, the blacksmith made the nails, trees were used as support beams.

Lot’s of work to be done for one person! This is my new full time job.

Update I met someone years ago on Facebook that has turned out to be a great match for me, she moved here from Texas and we get along very well, she has been a great help for me.

My name is Laura Creecy and I stumbled upon your site while doing some genealogy research. There were several men with the name Levi Creecy, but in 1792 there was only one, not on my direct branch. This Levi Creecy keeps showing up in the Perquimans County census, not Chowan, but it wasn’t usual for them to have farm’s and also have a house in town. I had no idea about this house.

I grew up in Maryland but currently live in TX. I did manage to get to Edenton for about an hour, about 9 years ago, but a huge storm system was coming through and I was unable to spend any time there at all, except to visit the Barker House for about 30 minutes. I spent the rest of my trip huddled in a bathroom waiting for the tornados to pass. I am happy to find your site and see the house being taken care of. I hope you don’t mind me peeking in on your progress every now and then. I love old houses and shows about repairing them are my favorites to watch. Good Luck to you!
