Den Pine Floor Replacement

Den Pine Floor Replacement

Den Pine Floor Replacement

After a few years of looking for flooring to replace our Pine floor in the 16×25 den I was lucky to come across 14 boxes, roughly 415 square feet of engineered Hickory hardwood for $1.20 a sq ft. The new flooring is made by Shaw and I could not find it for less than $3.99 a sq.ft. on sale. So roughly $1,700 and up!

With more cold weather and snow on the way I have not started any other big projects since the bath tub replacement, that took about 4 weeks to complete. Browsing on Facebook I came across 14 boxes of new flooring and went the next day to pick it up! Now I am working on what other building items I will need to install the new flooring. The new flooring can be floated, glued or nailed down. Since I already own a flooring nail gun I leaning to nails and glue.

Thickness is the number one item to address, unlike solid 3/4″ flooring this engineered flooring is only 3/8″ thick. I will need 13 plywood 4′ x 8′ x 3/8″ panels these will be laid onto of the 3/4″ plywood sub floor I already have below the pine flooring. the 3/8″ plywood plus the 3/8″ new flooring will get me back to the same size as the 3/4″ pine floor.

When I take out the old pine flooring it will get repurposed as I need wood repairs on the smoke house etc. it will not get wasted or disposed of.
