Adding a Den Wall for Storage and Functionality | Farmhouse Renovation Update

Den part wall added, well due to the high temperatures and high humidity I found inside work to do, I’ve sort of been on summer vacation but have done smaller jobs I have not posted here.

The den was added onto the farmhouse years ago, the windows in the dining room and living room at one time were the side of the house looking out. These were left in place when the addition was added.

We needed storage space as this house was lacking it, I also have good size speakers in the den, after much thought it made sense to take that space and add a half wall allowing for storage from the dining room without giving up floor space needed for the speakers, also adding a flat wall area next to the fireplace on top of that the dining room already had window shutters which now can be closed to hide the new storage area (See Pictures) My other sort of big jobs will be adding a cupola to the guest house roof which I have 80% completed in my garage, also the Den floor (Pine) needs to be replaced with a good hardwood like Oak.

The pine boards that are currently in the den will be reused to repair the smokehouse which is in desperate need of siding repairs. More to come when the weather gets better.
